Greetings, Shiloh Families! It's a great day to be an EAGLE!
This update contains information about conferences, the PTSO, Shiloh STARS, the Book Fair, and Halloween. Please read on!
Monday October 7 is Shiloh's Spirit Day. The theme this month is Seahawks Colors, so send your kids to school wearing their blue and green!
Have you signed up for a conference with your child's teacher? If not, please do so right away. We have big goals for our kids but we can't do it alone. YOU are our most important partner in the work. Go to www.pickatime.com/shiloh to schedule your child's conference. Call the office at 465-6800 if you have trouble signing up. Conferences are Wednesday - Friday, October 16 - 18.
October 16: School is dismissed at 12:45.
October 17: School is not in session. Teachers offer a late night of conferences for those who need them on this day.
October 18: School is not is session.
On MONDAY October 7 we will have our first assembly to kick off the PTSO's first fund raiser. Please watch for the literature to come home, and thank you in advance for your support. Our PTSO is hoping to use some of its resources to fund additional sensory activities for our kids who need sensory regulation throughout the school day. We are so grateful and excited for this!
STARS of the Month
Also at this assembly we will celebrate our STARS of the Month for September. Each month, each teacher or class chooses one student who has worked hard to be Safe, Trustworthy, Accountable, Respectful, and Successful. The parents and family of that child are invited to come to a parent reception on Monday. In addition, we have student-only assemblies for grades 1-3 and 4-6 to kick off our fund raiser and draw blue stars from our STAR jars. What are blue stars? Click here to find out!
Did you know there is NO SCHOOL on October 11? Please mark your calendar. This day was planned as a Learning Improvement Day but sadly was cut when our Mead School District faced a budget crunch.
Scholastic Book Fair
Are you starting to thing about holiday gifts? Well now is a great time to start your shopping! Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held October 14 - 18 in our library. It will be open the mornings of the 14th and 15th from 8 - 9, and throughout all of our conference hours on the 16th -18th.
At Shiloh Hills we do a Halloween costume parade on Halloween, October 31. It is a lot of fun, especially when families come to watch and when our costume guidelines are followed. The parade will take place from 9:45 - 10:45 on Thursday, October 31. Here are our costume rules that align with our STAR expectations:
Shiloh Hills Eagles are expected to be safe:
- Halloween costumes may not include real or toy weapons. These will be confiscated and, depending on the situation, parents will have to pick them up in the office or they may not be returned to the student.
Shiloh Hills Eagles are expected to be respectful:
- Halloween costumes may not include offensive props like blood, barf, or "bathroom" humor (you know what we're talking about here).
- Halloween masks and makeup may not be of the "terrifying to a 5-year-old" variety. This means no super scary werewolves, clowns, jokers, etc.
Thank you for reading this important communication from Shiloh Hills.
