Eagle Updates Oct 22 - 26

Greetings, Shiloh Families!

The Big Thing in today's Eagle Updates is our annual Veterans Day event! Veterans Day at Shiloh is traditionally a very, very important event. This year is no different, however our program will take a slightly different look than it has in the past due to space and scheduling constraints. This Veterans Day program will be a reception with a brief program and some refreshments. It will take place on Friday, November 9 at 2 in the afternoon and is intended for veterans in our Shiloh Hills community and the Shiloh students or staff members who have invited them.

Many children invite parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and even older siblings who are United States military veterans. It is very helpful for us to know how many folks to plan for, so please call the Shiloh office at 465-6800 to let us know if you or another veteran in your family plans to attend the reception. In addition, we need PHOTOS in order to create a slide show of and for our Veterans. If you send hard copies, we promise to be very careful with them and get them back to you ASAP. You can also email photos to heidi.rae@mead354.org. More information is attached below.

Don't forget about PTSO pajama movie night this Friday at Shiloh Hills. It's free and FUN, with refreshments available for a small cost!

Before a reminder of other upcoming events, we'd like to thank you for your efforts in attending your child's parent/teacher conference. As we said last week, we have BIG GOALS for our Shiloh Eagles and we cannot accomplish them alone. It is definitely a team effort!

Have a great week, Shiloh!

Believe! Achieve! Inspire!

Halloween Parade: Wednesday, October 31

At Shiloh Hills we celebrate Halloween with a costume parade. Children will be invited to wear their costumes to school on Wednesday, October 31. The parade will take place at 9:45 am. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend and take pictures of their little ghost or goblin in the cafeteria as the parade goes by.

Costume guidelines:

  • We encourage homemade costumes over store-bought costumes when possible. Allowing students to be creative and come up with costumes from items around the house is cheap, fun, and most of all--REALLY good for kids!

  • Save the following for home. Do not send your child to school with these things.

    • scary costumes (terrifying masks are not good choices with 5-year-olds in our building

    • blood and gory costumes or accessories

    • weapons of any type, real or for play

    • gross-out costumes or accessories (e.g., fake vomit, fake "bathroom products", etc.)
