Behavior Expectations - Shiloh STARS
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.  At Shiloh Hills Elementary School, PBIS lies at the heart of our mission.  The central notion behind PBIS is that children are more successful when they know the behavior expectations and when adults use consistent language and vocabulary to teach and reinforce those expectations. Therefore, behavior expectations are deliberately taught and modeled on regular intervals.  Whether in classrooms, in the hallways, in the library, on the playground, in the restrooms, or on the bus, students are expected to be Safe, Trustworthy, Accountable, and Respectful at all times.

Feedback is an important part of learning anything new. When a student follows expectations, an observing adult may hand the child a blue star along with verbal feedback such as, “I noticed you used a Level 0 voice in the hallway just now. That is respectful of the people around you.”  Students may choose to contribute their stars to our whole-school "STAR Jars" to help earn a school-wide prize. These prizes help reinforce our expectations and keep school fun for kids AND grownups! Further, working towards a shared goal helps students build an awareness of their positive contribution to our learning community.
